Cedric Bouteiller

Cédric Bouteiller is a multifaceted artist. After studying fine arts and philosophy in Aix-en-Provence, he started using photography while on a world tour. He came back with images of all kinds that quietly waited while he plunged into the world of abstract. His meeting with Zao Wou-ki changed his life. The master led Cédric on the way to lyrical abstraction. Tàpies and Alechinsky are also be part of his inspiration. Then in Arles, after long conversations with Lucien Clergue, Cédric Bouteiller discovered Picasso and Cocteau’s literary influences.

Cédric Bouteiller finally decided to use his photographs, as witnesses of his journey to discover the world. He raises digital printing to a new level, presenting locales such as New York, Shanghai, Paris and Marseilles with subliminal symbolism: A look of a woman, a tag, a sign, an architectural element. Drawing and painting transform his photographs.
Cedric Bouteiller lives and works in Provence, France.
