Fabien Castanier Gallery is proud to announce our support of ARTWORKS FOR THE CURE, an eclectic and offbeat show that will take place at the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport from Friday, October 11 to Sunday, October 13. At this event, the gallery will auction off works by Speedy Graphito, JonOne, Tilt, and Charlie Anderson.
Over 150 contemporary artists are represented, painters, sculptors, photographers and mixed media artists from all over the globe. A number of the artists from MOCA’s ART IN THE STREETS show will be represented, including Shepard Fairey, Mister Cartoon, RISK, Estevan Oriol and Todd James. There will also be an exhibit focusing on the graffiti that was on both sides of the Berlin Wall and, maybe best of all, you will have a chance to try your hand at tagging street art.
The benefitting charity, the T.J. Martell Foundation, originated in the music industry, and there is definite musical influences in some of the work, including a superb collection of rock photography and the visual art of many music artists including Dave Matthews, John Mellencamp, Edward O’Brien (Radiohead), Brandon Boyd (Incubus), both John and Julian Lennon and Yoko Ono, Leonard Cohen, Grace Slick and Janis Joplin.
There will be at least 50 artists, present on opening night, Friday, October 11th, for the VIP MEET THE ARTISTS RECEPTION. LA CONFIDENTIAL is the Media sponsor. You can get the first look at the art, plus there will be a Red Carpet, live music, wine, beer and hors d’ oeuvres by the owners of Crustacean and Tiato Restaurants.
We are able to offer our friends a $25 discount on the $75 Friday ticket if you buy in advance by visiting: www.2013artworks.org, and using the promo code AGY. Friday tickets are good for free re-admission Sunday.
Saturday night is a dinner for the Foundation’s Honorees and guests and Sunday afternoon the show continues with art, music, wine, beer, gourmet food trucks and $25 tickets. Tickets for both are available at: www.2013artworks.org.
The T.J. Martell Foundation, 501(c)3 with a 3-star Charity Navigator rating, has raised over $250 million for early stage, “angel” research into cancer and leukemia at twelve leading research hospitals across the country. Over $27 million has been granted to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for its pediatric cancer research.
Fabien Castanier Gallery is excited to announce, “Metallic Tissue”, an exhibition featuring new work by Kelly “RISK” Graval, which will open on November 2 and run through December 15. This exhibition will be curated by graffiti historian, Roger Gastman.
Graffiti writers have always managed to leave their mark, literally on the urban landscape and perhaps more profoundly on the subsequent generation of artists that follow them. And in Los Angeles, no other artist has had such a major impact on the evolution of graffiti than RISK. This historic exhibition signifies RISK’s imprint on society – tracing his influence on Southern California as well as on the worldwide stage.
With a career spanning 30 years, RISK has solidified his place in the history books as a world renowned graffiti legend. He has come a long way since he pioneered the painting of freeway overpasses, signs and billboards, dubbed “heavens.” Although RISK loves aerosol art, he sees it as merely just one genre in his life’s work. He has transformed from a street artist to a rising star in the contemproary art world.
For “Metallic Tissue,” the artist will explore his versatility with various mediums and styles. For the past few years he has been painting large outdoor murals in a series called “Beautifully Destroyed,” with pieces that present color fields rather than lettering or imagery. Working with these aesthetics, he pushes the boundaries of traditional graffiti, deconstructing letters into abstract forms. While the majority of his recent work graces the walls of cities around the world, RISK sees the gallery space as a venue with no limits.
Metallic Tissue | Nov 2 – Dec 15
Opening Reception | Saturday Nov 2nd, 7-10pm
Fabien Castanier Gallery is excited to announce our next exhibition, PARALLELS, featuring new work by L’Atlas and Thomas Canto. The show will open September 21 and run until October 20.
This exhibition brings together two French artists whose aesthetics draw from their mastery of geometry in space. Both L’Atlas and Canto have developed a keen sense of spatial awareness through street art, and have taken their inspirations to transcendent levels. The artists examine the intersection between abstraction and precise patterning, expressing their ideas with geometric forms through paintings and installations for their first exhibition in Los Angeles.
Opening Reception with the Artists | Saturday, Sept. 21 7-10pm
Fabien Castanier today announced the launch of HPM Project, a unique destination for hand-painted multiples from today’s most important and influential urban contemporary artists. To celebrate the launch of HPM-Project.com, Fabien Castanier has partnered with CARTWHEEL for a kick-off event, Saturday June 29th.
HPM Project is an on-going collaboration and artistic venture that brings together an un-paralleled collection of limited editions from the world’s foremost urban artists. For each project, the artist creates a very limited edition set of pieces, only eight for each series. These HPM are produced exclusively for HPM Project and cannot be found anywhere else.
Every HPM begins with high quality Khadi 640g paper, handmade in India. Because every sheet of paper is produced one at a time, the individual pieces have their own unique character. The artist then hand-paints each screen print to create the limited editions. The quality and rarity of these pieces makes the HPM Project collection an ideal place to find the most iconic imagery from some of the best urban artists.
The launch party will be held from 6-9pm at
The Daily Dose

Los Angeles, CA 90021
in the Downtown L.A. Arts District

Fabien Castanier Gallery is proud to present A Beautiful Madness, the first solo exhibition in the USA by JonOne. Though raised in New York, JonOne has lived in Paris since the mid 1980s where he has established himself as an artist, building his career that has spanned over 20 years.
From the inception of his career as an artist, tagging on the streets of Harlem in the 1980s, JonOne has always emphasized a painterly approach, bringing brushes instead of spray cans to tag subway trains. Drawing from the energy and freedom of painting in an urban landscape, he translates his roots as a graffiti artist to present paintings that are a completely unique form of abstract expressionism. Akin to Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning, JonOne’s pieces exhibit a enormous sense of movement and color. His compositions combine freestyle, hand-painted aesthetics with a sense of repetition, layering precise strokes and vibrant color for a uniquely balanced yet dynamic visual experience.
Please join the artist as we celebrate the Opening Reception on Saturday, November 3rd, 7-10pm. There will be a Special Preview Thursday, November 1st from 7-9pm.
JonOne will be in Los Angeles prior to the Opening Reception. To schedule an interview or for other press inquiries please contact the gallery.

Fabien Castanier Gallery is proud to present IMAGE NOT AVAILABLE, the first solo exhibition in the USA by French conceptual artist Rero.
For the past 3 years, Rero has established his work through his innovative approach to street art. Though introduced to the street through graffiti, working for a time under the name Aurer, he eventually felt limited by a spray can. He then began exploring imagery through the use of typography, while retaining the same values of graffiti.
With his distinctive visual style, Rero often inhabits disused and dilapidated spaces to explore the concept of “negation of the image,” presenting minimalist statements that combat our modern overdose on images and messages. He achieves this through the use of words and phrases with a stark black line crossing them out. Rero’s site-specific works enter the gallery space as installations that maintain a sense of destruction. His works on canvas emulate the abandoned walls where he often intervenes.
Rero was born in 1983 and studed graphic design at the London College of Communication. He has shown his work in numerous exhibitions and art fairs across Europe. He lives and works in Paris.
From June 30 – September 2, Fabien Castanier Gallery presents FREESTYLE, a group exhibition featuring a diverse range of original works, as well as silkscreen prints and photography.
